Epson SX405 printer/scanner/copier
The Epson Stylus SX405 is a budget multifunction printer, scanner, copier that is compact and looks good with a dark grey finish. With an occasionally flimsy build, most notably on the output paper tray, the Stylus SX405 is in general a robust printer and this is backed up with a 12 month manufacturers warranty from Epson. The Stylus SX405 uses four separate DuraBrite Epson inks (black, cyan, magenta and yellow), which can be easily installed by lifting up the top half of the printer body. Epson says DuraBrite prints on compatible paper have an estimated life of 100 years in a photo album, they are also scratch and water resistant as soon as they leave the printer. This comes at a costs however with a set of genuine Epson SX405 ink cartridges costing £30, compatible printer inks are available for half that and it puts a questions mark under whether the genuine inks are worth the extra money. When you start using the SX405 it’s apparent that it not the fastest printer in the world, but the end result is worth it. Black text looks suitably dark with only the slightest hint of feathering at character edges. The SX405 is equally impressive when it comes to colour printing as it is with mono printing. The Epson Stylus SX405 is a great budget all-in-one that produces excellent results with photo prints.
